Section 3: OpenXT Configuration and Operations

NDVM

The following steps test Tasks 3.1-3.5:

a)  At the OpenXT main screen, click on Network (top right corner) --> Connection Information.

b)  There should be a tab that displays specific connection information for each interface identified (Task 3.1).

i)  The existence of the IP Configuration (IP address, Subnet Mask, DNS, etc...) confirms that there was a connection between the system and the DHCP server (Task 3.2).

ii)  Note/record the Default Route from each tab.

c)  Press the Ctrl-Shift-T keys to bring up a terminal window.

d)  Enter the correct password.

e)  Type nr and enter the correct password.

f)  In the terminal window, type xec-vm and press enter.  Note the ID of the Network VM.

g)  Type sshv4v # and press enter (the # is the ID number of the Network VM).

h)  Type yes and press enter to continue connecting.

i)  Type nr and enter the correct password.

j)  Type ifconfig -a and press enter.

k)  Note that there is a brbridged interface for each actual interface (compare HWaddr).

l)  In the terminal window, type ethtool <actual interface (eth0, eth1, etc...)> and press enter.

m)  The Link speed and Duplex mode are displayed (Task 3.3).  Verify that these are correct.

n)  The last line, Link detected: will show a yes if it is identified as being active.

NOTE:  Perform the ethtool step for each actual interface to verify the link speed, duplex mode and that the interface is active (Task 3.4).

o)  In the terminal window, ping the Default Routes recorded above.  The pings should be successful (Task 3.5).

 

3.1)  A NDVM is created for each network interface.

3.2)  Acquire DHCP configuration.

3.3)  Verify link attributes.

3.3.1)  Link speed

3.3.2)  Duplex mode 

3.4)  Verify active link.

3.4.1)  Wired

3.4.2)  Wireless (if applicable)

3.4.3)  Cellular (if applicable)

3.5)  Verify external connectivity (ping Gateway).

 


Input Devices

3.7)  Verify keyboard functionality.

a)  Note/record any issues.

3.8)  Verify mouse functionality.

a)  Test movement around screen, grabbing/resizing windows and right and left clicks (mostly in VMs).

3.9)  Verify touchpad functionality.

a)  Test single and double taps, movement of windows and right and left clicks (mostly in VMs).

3.10)  Verify touchscreen functionality.

a)  Test single and double taps, movement of windows, pinch and zoom and writing/drawing in specific applications (mostly in VMs).

3.11)  Verify pen functionality.

a)  Test single and double taps, movement of windows and writing/drawing in specific applications (mostly in VMs).

 

Misc

3.12)  Verify switched graphics resolution

a)  At the OpenXT main screen, press Ctrl-Shift-T to open a terminal window.

b)  Enter the correct password.

c)  Type nr and press enter.  Enter the correct password.

d)  Type xec-vm and press enter.

e)  Note the ID of the UIVM.

f)  Type sshv4v # and press enter (the # is the ID of the UIVM).

g)  Type yes and press enter to continue connecting.

h)  Type /usr/bin/xrandr -d :0 and press enter.

i)  Note/record the current resolution.

j)  Use the monitor controls to display the current resolution.

k)  The OpenXT resolution and the monitor resolution should match.

3.13)  Reboot system

a)  On the OpenXT main screen, click the Power button in the top left corner and select Restart.

b)  The system will reboot.

3.14)  Shut down system

a)  On the OpenXT main screen, click the Power button in the top left corner and select Shut down.

b)  The system will shut down.
